EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the central section of the Ambierle Altarpiece, a masterpiece created by the Flemish School in the 15th century. Crafted from gilded and painted walnut wood, this extraordinary piece measures an impressive 560 x 225 cm when open. Housed in the Eglise de Saint-Martin in Ambierle, France, it is also known as Retable de la Passion. Carved in a renowned Brussels workshop, this altarpiece features painted panels that were executed by none other than Rogier van der Weyden's studio. Van der Weyden himself was a prominent artist of his time (1399-1464), and these panels are believed to have been completed under his supervision.
