The date was 6th August 1916, in Italy. Enrico Toti, born in 1882, met his untimely demise on this fateful day. Illustrated by Tancredi Scarpelli (1866-1937) and taken from "Storia d'Italia" (History of Italy) by Paolo Giudici in 1930, this image brings to life the grim reality faced by soldiers during one of history's most devastating conflicts.
