Campaign medal from a medal group awarded to Captain John Grant Malcolmson VC (1835-1902), 3rd Regiment of Bombay Light Cavalry.
John Grant Malcolmson was commissioned into the 3rd Bombay Light Cavalry on 28 August 1855. He served with them during the Persian War of 1856-57 and earned the Victoria Cross for his actions at the Battle of Khoosh-ab in 1857. He was also present at the capture of Reshire and surrender of Bushire. His India General Service Medal consequently bears the clasp for Persia.
