The Irish Wolfhound is a large breed of hound dog that originated in Ireland, and is one of the tallest breeds, standing up to 32 inches at the shoulder and weighing up to 120 pounds, long, wiry coat that comes in various colors such as gray, brindle, red, black and white. Its head is long and narrow with a broad muzzle and strong jaw. The ears are small and folded back against the head. This breed was originally bred for hunting wolves but also makes an excellent companion animal due to its loyal nature and gentle disposition. They require regular exercise as well as mental stimulation to stay healthy both physically and mentally.
