Brain tumour, MRI scan

Brain tumour. Coloured orthogonal views (axial left, coronal middle, sagittal right) of a male head, made from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. The scans reveal a large glioma tumour (yellow-orange), a central nervous system tumour that arises from glial cells. About half of all primary brain tumours are gliomas. MRI uses radio waves and a magnet to obtain "slice" body images

Blooming "Ookanzakura" cherry blossoms are pictured at Shinjuku park in Tokyo March 18, 2010. This season, Japan's national obsession with the timing of the flowering of the delicate, pale pink blooms, called "sakura" in Japanese, will depend on private weather companies and their volunteer recruits, after the Meteorological Agency decided to end its official forecasts that began in 1955.
