87 mm German engraved artillery shell case - Bezalel School

77 mm. German artillery shell case engraved at the Bezalel School in Jerusalem. Inlaid silver and copper damascene work with a date tree surmounting a brass etched vignette of Rachel's Tomb supported by images of two Lions of Judah on each side. Brass engraved Hebrew lettering referring to the text from Jeremiah, Chapter 31, Verse 15 - Thus says the Lord: Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears, for your work shall be rewarded says the Lord, and they shall come again from the Land of the Enemy. . 77 mm. German artillery shell case engraved at the Bezalel School in Jerusalem. Engraved brass with copper and silver damascene work decorated with three etched Holy Land vignettes. Inscribed in Hebrew relating to David's Tower, Absolom's Tomb and Rachel's Tomb. Bezalel/Jerusalem plate in Hebrew and English on front and Bezalel/Jerusalem in Hebrew stamped on base. Trench Art
