This evocative image depicts Saint Philip the Apostle, one of the twelve disciples chosen by Jesus Christ. Though his role in the New Testament is sporadically mentioned, Saint Philip holds a significant place in Christian history. Born in Bethsaida, Galilee, Philip was initially approached by Jesus while he and his brother Andrew were mending nets by the Sea of Galilee. Moved by their eagerness to follow, Jesus invited them to become "fishers of men." (John 1:43-44) After the Last Supper, Philip played a crucial role in spreading the message of Christianity. He is believed to have traveled extensively, preaching in various parts of Asia Minor and Greece. According to tradition, he was eventually crucified and stoned in the city of Hierapolis in present-day Turkey. The exact century of Saint Philip's life remains uncertain, with estimates ranging from the 1st to the 1st or 2nd century AD. Despite the lack of definitive historical records, his legacy continues to inspire generations of Christians.
