Agnes Sorel, born around 1422, rose to prominence at the French court in the mid-15th century, renowned for her exceptional beauty and intelligence. She was the daughter of a noble family from the region of Champagne, and her striking appearance and charisma soon caught the eye of the king. Their relationship began in 1441, and Agnes became the king's official mistress, bearing him a son in 1445. She was granted the title of Dame de Beauté and was given the estate of Chasselat as a gift. Agnes was not only a beloved companion but also a trusted advisor and confidante to the king. Her influence at court was significant, and she was involved in various political matters. However, Agnes's position at the French court was not without controversy. Her enemies, both at the court and among the nobility, accused her of using darker means to maintain her power and influence.
