The Waifs and Strays Society, also known as the London Society for the Protection and Provision of Friendly Homes for Waifs and Strays, was a charitable organization dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of destitute, neglected, and orphaned children in the United Kingdom. The image reveals a picturesque yet somber scene of the Nidd home, with its imposing red-brick facade and sprawling grounds.
