The Fairey Battle was a British twin-engine, medium bomber and reconnaissance aircraft, designed and manufactured by Fairey Aviation Company Ltd. This particular aircraft is significant as it marked the beginning of the Battle's use of the powerful Napier Sabre engine, which would eventually become a standard feature for this aircraft type. The Napier Sabre engine, a masterpiece of British engineering, was a liquid-cooled, supercharged, 24-cylinder, double-row, opposed-piston aero engine.
