This evocative photograph captures the intense gaze of Alexander Fadeyev (1901-1956), a prominent Russian writer who played a significant role in Soviet literature during the Revolution and the Second World War. Born in 1901 in the town of Borisov, Belarus, Fadeyev rose to prominence as a writer of proletarian literature, focusing on the lives and struggles of the working class. His novels, such as "The Young Guard" and "The Red Partisan," depicted the heroism and sacrifice of the Soviet people during the Revolution and the war. Fadeyev's literary career began in the late 1920s, and he quickly became a member of the Soviet Writers' Union.
