June 28, 1914: Archduke Franz Ferdinand's Last Rail Trip Before His Fateful Journey to Sarajevo This historic photograph captures the moment Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, Sophie, disembark from a train at Sarajevo station. The archduke, who was 28 years old at the time, had just completed his last rail trip.
