This stunning print depicts the Carriage of Louis XIV, also known as the Grand State Carriage, which was used for official state occasions during the reign of King Louis XIV of France (1638-1715) and his queen, Marie-Thérèse of Austria (1638-1683). The carriage, which dates back to 1667, is a magnificent example of the opulence and grandeur of the French monarchy during this period. The image shows the carriage being drawn by a team of magnificent white horses, their manes and tails flowing in the wind. The carriage itself is adorned with intricate gold and silver decorations, as well as red velvet upholstery and crystal chandeliers. The royal crest of France is prominently displayed on the front, while the sides are adorned with elaborate carvings and sculptures.
