CUNARD WORKS, Rimrose Road, Bootle. The Cunard Shell Works concert party, The High Explosives, in costume for a show. In 1915 the Cunard Steamship Co store and engineering works at Rimrose Road, Bootle, was converted into a munitions factory. Projectile heads were brought to the Shell Works to be finished, checked and varnished before being taken to another factory in the area to be filled with explosive.
