1836 Arthur Charlotte Countess Craven Louisa Married Pryor Wilton Elizabeth

EDITORS COMMENTS
This image showcases Elizabeth Charlotte Louisa Craven, later Countess of Wilton, in her elegant and refined attire from the mid-19th century. Born on March 12, 1817, Elizabeth was the eldest daughter of the 6th Baron Craven and Lady Elizabeth Milnes-Gaskell. In 1836, she married Arthur, the third Earl of Wilton, and became the Countess of Wilton. The couple's marriage took place at St. George's Hanover Square in London. Elizabeth's stunning appearance in this photograph is a testament to the high societal standards of the time. Her elegant dress, adorned with intricate lace and a delicate floral pattern, is accessorized with a large, ornate brooch and a matching shawl. Her hair is styled in an elegant chignon, held in place with a pearl and diamond hairpiece. Her expressive eyes and gentle smile convey a sense of warmth and charm. The Countess's marriage to Arthur, the third Earl of Wilton, was a significant social event in the 1830s. The Earl was a prominent figure in British society, holding various political offices and serving as Lord Lieutenant of County Kildare in Ireland. Elizabeth's marriage to him marked her entry into the highest echelons of British society. However, tragedy struck the Wilton family when Arthur passed away in 1851. Elizabeth later married Arthur Pryor in 1856, but the marriage was short-lived as Arthur died just a year later. Elizabeth Charlotte Louisa Craven, Countess of Wilton, passed away on January 21, 1881, leaving behind a legacy as a gracious and elegant member of British high society.
