Born on March 20, 1835, Hood was the son of the famous satirical poet and caricaturist Thomas Hood the Elder. Tom Hood made a name for himself in the literary world with his humorous writings, which included poems, stories, and plays. The photograph, taken in 1874, captures Hood in his prime, with a frizzy beard, a serious expression, and a hint of a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
