The castle, situated in the Limousin region of France, had been under siege for an extended period of time during the Hundred Years War between England and France. In this image, we see the triumphant French forces, led by the Duke of Berry, entering the castle after its surrender to the French monarch, King Charles VI. The strong walls and towers of Ventadour, which had once provided a formidable defense against invading forces, now stand as a testament to the power and determination of the French army.
