The Master of Carnegie, whose real name was Master John Alexander Duff, was the only son of Lady Maud Duff, making him the Queen's second cousin. Surrounded by childhood friends, Princess Elizabeth looks delighted as she poses for the camera with Zoe D Erlanger, Princess Margaret, Master Wolrige-Gordon, and Hon. Mary Anna Stuart. The girls are elegantly dressed in their Sunday best, while the boys are smartly attired in suits and bow ties. The setting of the party at Elseck House, a beautiful country estate, adds to the idyllic atmosphere of the image.
