The Old Testament narrative in the Book of Genesis recounts how Sarah, frustrated by her own inability to bear children, gave Hagar to Abraham as a concubine, resulting in the birth of Ishmael, the first son of Abraham. However, Sarah's jealousy and resentment led her to mistreat Hagar, causing her to flee into the wilderness with her child.
