KING ESTMERE. British ballad. King Estmere and the King of Spain fight for the hand of King Adlands daughter. Despite threats from the King of Spain, she agrees to marry King Estmere. The King of Spain attacks. King Estmeres brother Alder the Younger, being the son of a magician-woman arranges to have King Estmere transformed into the shape of a harper and himself into his boy. They infiltrate the castle, Alder kills the King of Spain, and both fight off all his men. King Estmere and the daughter marry. Date: 1853
