Ambulances were donated to the war effort from across the British Empire. Wealthy individuals, businesses, trade unions, charities, hunts, worshipful companies, churches and many others paid for ambulances. Manufacturers of ambulances included Rolls-Royce, Daimler, Albion, Morris, Vulcan, Austin, Sunbeam-Rover, Wolseley, Siddeley-Deasy, Renault, Buick, Crossley, Vauxhall, Argyll, Sunbeam, Lanchester, Ford Model T, Fiat and Star. Mountbatten wedding 1922 - Rolls Royce wedding gift

Lord Louis and Lady Mountbatten (formerly Lady Edwina Ashley) pictured with the Rolls Royce given by Lady Mountbatten to her husband as a wedding gift. The couple had just returned to Broadlands in Hampshire after a lengthy honeymoon, they sailed back to Southampton on the Olympic. The mascot, a figure in the shape of a signaller on the Renown, was a gift from Major and Lady Zia Wernher. Date: 1922
