EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a collection of exquisite jewels that once adorned the royalty and were bestowed as gifts by kings. Soon to be auctioned at Christies in London, these precious gems are currently owned by a member of a foreign imperial family. Among the remarkable pieces is a gold snuff box, presented by Prince Regent (later King George IV) to Princess de Lieven, wife of the Russian Ambassador in 1820. Another notable jewel is an Empire gold bracelet originally belonging to Duchess Auguste Amelie of Leuchtenberg, wife of Prince Eugene de Beauharnais, who inherited it from his mother, Empress Josephine. Adding to the allure of this collection is a diamond riviere given by Empress Josephine herself to her daughter Hortense upon her marriage to Louis Bonaparte, King of the Netherlands. The photograph also includes other magnificent items such as Lady Mountstephens' tiara and Lady Stradbrokes' diamond riviere - both equally enchanting and up for sale alongside these imperial treasures. Capturing the essence and grandeur of these historic jewels enclosed within their protective cases, this image transports us back in time when opulence was synonymous with royalty. It serves as a visual testament to the enduring beauty and significance that these regal adornments hold even after centuries have passed since they graced noble necks and wrists.
