His most famous remedy, "Holloway's Pills," contained a secret formula of herbs and minerals that promised to cure a variety of ailments. In 1879, he established Holloway College for Women in Surrey, England, with the aim of providing higher education opportunities for women at a time when such opportunities were scarce.
