This historic photograph captures a significant moment in the race to reach the South Pole: the meeting of the Terra Nova and the Fram off the Antarctic Barrier in February 1911. The Terra Nova, Captain Robert Falcon Scott's vessel, is seen here alongside the Norwegian Fram, commanded by Roald Amundsen, the first explorer to successfully reach the geographic South Pole on December 14, 1911.
