Amidst the chaos and destruction of World War II, the people of Eastbourne, England, stood firm against the relentless bombing campaigns of the German Air Force. In this poignant series of six photographs, taken in the summer of 1940, the spirit of the British population is captured in its unyielding resilience. The images depict the aftermath of an air raid on the town of Croydon, where the streets are filled with ruins and debris. Yet, despite the devastation, the people go about their daily lives with an air of calm determination.
