The Duchess of Albany, formerly Princess Helena of Waldeck-Pyrmont (1861-1922), and wife of Prince Leopold, pictured in 1910 with her grandchildren. Although she was married to Leopold for barely two years, she mourned him for nearly forty. The Duchess, who was married to Prince Leopold for just two years before his untimely death in 1884, is depicted here with a tender expression as she sits amongst her beloved offspring. Three of the six children gathered around her are those of her eldest daughter, Princess Alice of Albany, Countess of Athlone: Prince Rupert of Teck, Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg, and Prince Johann Leopold of Saxe-Coburg.
