The Coronation Cahir with the Stone of Scone

The Coronation Chair, Westminster Abbey, London. The stone below the seat is the infamous Stone of Scone. Historically, the artifact was kept at the now-ruined Scone Abbey in Scone, near Perth, Scotland. It was used for centuries in the coronation of the monarchs of Scotland, the monarchs of England, and, more recently, British monarchs. On 3 July 1996 it was announced in the House of Commons that the Stone would be returned to Scotland, and on 15 November 1996, after a handover ceremony at the border between representatives of the Home Office and of the Scottish Office, it was transported to Edinburgh Castle arriving on 30 November 1996 where it remains

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases The Coronation Chair, a historical masterpiece located within the hallowed halls of Westminster Abbey in London. The chair, adorned with intricate carvings and rich history, holds a hidden treasure below its seat – the infamous Stone of Scone. Originally, the Stone of Scone was kept at Scone Abbey in Scotland, near Perth. It played a pivotal role in the coronation of monarchs of Scotland, England, and, more recently, British monarchs. The Stone, steeped in myth and legend, was believed to have supernatural powers, granting the right to rule to those who sat upon it. In 1996, after centuries of being housed in England, the Stone of Scone was announced to be returned to its Scottish origins. The historic event was marked in the House of Commons, and on 15 November 1996, the Stone was transported from England to Scotland in a grand ceremony at the border. The Stone arrived at Edinburgh Castle on 30 November 1996, where it remains to this day, symbolizing the deep-rooted connection between Scotland and its rich history. This photograph captures the essence of destiny and history, as the Coronation Chair stands as a testament to the past, while the Stone of Scone represents the promise of a continued connection to the past, present, and future.
