EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative image, a collection of symbolic regalia representing power, glory, and Christian faith are showcased. The centerpiece is the Imperial State Crown, crafted in 1838 for Queen Victoria, adorned with the Black Prince's Ruby in its front. This ruby, a 14th-century gem, is steeped in history and is believed to have once belonged to Edward, the Prince of Wales, and later, the Black Prince. Surrounding the Imperial State Crown are other significant symbols of royalty. The Sovereign's Orb, made for Charles II, is depicted on the left. This orb is a symbol of sovereignty and power, with a cross on its top and the Cullinan Diamond embedded in its base. The orb is held in the monarch's hand during their coronation. On the right, the head of the Royal Sceptre with the Cross is displayed. This sceptre, also from the time of Charles II, features the Star of Africa, a large diamond, at its top. The sceptre is a symbol of the monarch's temporal power and is held in the right hand during the coronation ceremony. Lastly, the St. Edward's Crown, made for Charles II in 1661, is shown at the bottom of the image. This crown, used during the coronation ceremony, is a symbol of the monarch's spiritual role as the defender of the Christian faith. The crown is adorned with precious stones, including the Cullinan I and II diamonds. These symbols of power, glory, and Christian faith have been passed down through generations, each carrying the weight of history and tradition. They serve as a reminder of the rich heritage and continuity of the monarchy, and the deep connection between the monarch and their people.
