Wall Art and Photo Gifts from National Railway Museum
Suffolk, LNER poster, 1923-1947
Poster produced for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) to promote train services to Suffolk. The poster shows a woman and child conversing with a man in a horse and cart, with old village houses and a church in the background. The white house in the foreground shows signs of the decorative art of pargeting (popular in Suffolk villages) on its exterior; here, the building is faced with ornamental plasterwork which is covered with designs and patterns either in relief, or embossed into the surface plaster. Artwork by B (John Bee)
