A view of Earth taken from the Apollo 10 spacecraft

May 18, 1969 - A view of Earth from 36, 000 nautical miles away as photographed from the Apollo 10 spacecraft during its trans-lunar journey toward the moon. While the Yucatan Peninsula is obscured by clouds, nearly all of Mexico north of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec can be clearly delineated. The Gulf of California and Baja California and the San Joaquin Valley can be easily identified. Also, the delta of the Rio Grande River and the Texas coast are visible. Note the color differences (greens - east, browns - west) along the 100 degrees meridian

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photo print, taken from the Apollo 10 spacecraft on May 18,1969, offers a mesmerizing view of our planet Earth. From a distance of 36,000 nautical miles away, this image captures the awe-inspiring beauty and vastness of our world. As the spacecraft embarked on its trans-lunar journey towards the moon, it managed to capture this remarkable perspective. While clouds obscure parts of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, almost all of northern Mexico can be clearly seen beyond the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. The Gulf of California and Baja California are easily identifiable features in this photograph. Additionally, one can discern the San Joaquin Valley along with the delta of Rio Grande River and Texas coast. What makes this image even more intriguing is observing color differences along the 100 degrees meridian - vibrant greens to represent eastern regions contrasting with earthy browns symbolizing western areas. This historic snapshot not only showcases mankind's incredible achievements in space exploration but also serves as a reminder of our planet's fragile existence amidst an expansive universe. With no human presence visible within this frame, it allows us to reflect upon our place in space and appreciate Earth's magnificence from afar. Stocktrek Images has beautifully captured this momentous occasion through their skillful photography and archival preservation techniques. This square-shaped print invites viewers into a world beyond imagination – where adventure meets scientific discovery – reminding us that there is so much more waiting to be explored
