This print takes us back to the heart of World War II, specifically to February 1943 at Swindon Works. The image showcases a side view of a remarkable 2-pounder pom-pom gun mounting, meticulously built for the Admiralty. As we delve into the details, we can see the ammunition thoughtfully positioned in the side trays, ready for action. While the barrels and breaches were already supplied, it was Swindon's skilled craftsmen who carried out the crucial task of manufacturing the swivel and elevating gear for this particular quick-firing gun.
