Derby County Football Club is an English professional football club based in Derby, Derbyshire. Founded in 1884, the club competes in the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football. Nicknamed The Rams, they play their home matches at Pride Park Stadium. The club has won two FA Cups and one Football League Championship title during its history and can also competed in several European tournaments including the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Intertoto Cup. One of only ten clubs to have competed in every season of the English football league system since its formation in 1888. The Rams have had a number of successful managers over the years including Brian Clough, Jim Smith and Steve McClaren who led them to promotion back to the Premier League for 2008–09 season after a six-year absence from England's top division. They were relegated after just one season back at that level but remain competitive under current manager Phillip Cocu who guided them to a mid-table finish last season (2019/20).
