This stunning photograph captures Sophia Wilhelmina of Nassau, born on January 3, 1836, in Weilburg, Germany, on the eve of her marriage to King Oscar II of Sweden on May 23, 1857. In the image, Sophia is seen adorned in the regal attire befitting her new role as Queen Consort of Sweden, wearing a magnificent tiara, a long veil, and intricate necklaces. Oscar II ascended to the throne of Sweden in 1872, and Sophia became an integral part of the Swedish monarchy. Their marriage, which lasted until Oscar's death in 1907, produced seven children, including the future King Gustaf V of Sweden.
