EDITORS COMMENTS
Great image capturing the Champions' line-up of Chelsea Football Club from the 1959-60 season. In this historic photograph, we see the team that brought home the Football League Championship title for the first time in the club's history. The team, managed by Tommy Docherty, included some of the greatest names in Chelsea's rich footballing heritage. In the back row, from left to right, we have trainer Jack Oxberry, Ken Armstrong, Peter Sillett, Chic Thompson, Stan Willemse, and Stan Wicks. Each of these players played a crucial role in Chelsea's success that season, with Stan Wicks and Chic Thompson scoring a combined total of 25 goals. In the front row, we have the forwards who led the team's attack. Jock McNichol, Roy Bentley, and Leslie Stubbs formed a formidable front three, scoring a total of 38 goals between them. Jim Lewis, the team's goalkeeper, was a key figure in Chelsea's defense, keeping 23 clean sheets that season. Eric Parsons, not pictured, was another important player who missed out on this photograph. He made 36 appearances that season and scored 14 goals, making him a valuable asset to the team. This photograph is a testament to the incredible team spirit and determination of the Chelsea Football Club during the 1959-60 season. It serves as a reminder of the passion and dedication that has made Chelsea one of the most successful football clubs in England.
