The breed, known for its distinctive appearance and historical significance, is represented here by two distinct variations: one drop-eared and the other prick-eared. The drop-eared Skye Terrier, on the left, sports a pair of elegantly folded ears that drape gracefully against its head. This ear type was once more common in the breed but has since been largely replaced by the prick-eared variety. The drop-eared Skye Terrier was favored by some for its unique appearance and believed to have better scenting abilities due to its ears being closer to the ground.
