UFOs over statues

UFOs over Easter Island statues. Computer artwork of spacecraft (unidentified flying objects, UFOs) hovering over moai statues. This could represent the belief that alien life forms visited Earth and imparted knowledge to ancient man. Glowing ball UFO over Stonehenge

Glowing ball UFO at Stonehenge, computer artwork. Glowing ball UFO reports are common. While such a report may not be satisfactorily explained, there are several possible explanations. Seeing a known object under strange conditions may lead the observer's imagination to mislead them, or this could be a known atmospheric phenomenon such as ball lightning. Circles of standing stones, like Stonehenge in Wiltshire, England, were probably used to make astronomical calendar observations. Stonehenge's construction dates from about 5000 years ago. The largest stones are over 7 metres high and weigh 40 tonnes

Edward Uhler Condon (1902-1974), US physicist. Condon's doctorate work was followed by studying in Germany, under Born and Sommerfeld. This resulted in the Franck-Condon principle (1926) in spectroscopy and quantum chemistry. Condon co-wrote two textbooks and directed research at Westinghouse Electric Company from 1937, worked on uranium production during World War II, and lobbied for civilian control of atomic energy. He was director of the National Bureau of Standards from 1945 to 1951. Also known for his Condon Report (1968) on UFOs, he was president of the APS (1946) and the AAAS (1953)
