Upside-down jellyfish
Upside-down jellyfish (Cassiopeia ornata) amongst algae in Kakaban Lake (Jellyfish Lake), on Kakaban Island, in Kalimantan, Indonesia. These non- stinging jellyfish (lower left) are unique to this salt water lake on Kakaban Island. They have lost their sting due to the lack of predators in the lake. The lake is isolated from the sea and many other unique species has evolved within it including sea cucumbers, gobies, anemones, tunicates, crustaceans, nudibranchs, clams and snakes
