Saturn V rocket, computer artwork

Saturn V rocket. Computer artwork of a Saturn V rocket that was used by NASA to launch Apollo and Skylab missions. Saturn V was a disposable design, each rocket being used only once. The rockets were 100 metres tall and used liquid hydrogen as fuel. There were at total of seven Apollo missions to the Moon. Apollo 11 achieved the first manned lunar landing in July 1969 and Apollo 17 flew the last mission in the series in December 1972. A rocket based on this design was used to launch Skylab missions, which was in Earth orbit from 1972 to 1979

EDITORS COMMENTS
This computer artwork showcases the mighty Saturn V rocket, an iconic symbol of NASA's Apollo and Skylab missions. Standing tall at a staggering height of 100 meters, this disposable marvel was fueled by liquid hydrogen, propelling mankind towards the stars. The Saturn V played a pivotal role in seven historic Apollo missions to the Moon. It forever etched its name in history when Apollo 11 achieved humanity's first manned lunar landing in July 1969. The grand finale came with Apollo 17, marking the end of this extraordinary series in December 1972. Not limited to lunar exploration alone, this groundbreaking design also propelled Skylab missions into Earth's orbit from 1972 to 1979. Its versatility and power made it an indispensable tool for space exploration during that era. Through meticulous artistry and technological prowess, Science Photo Library presents us with a stunning composite illustration that captures the essence of this remarkable spacecraft. This artwork serves as a testament to human ingenuity and our unquenchable thirst for knowledge beyond our earthly confines. As we gaze upon this awe-inspiring image, let us reflect on the immense achievements made possible by these multistage liquid fuel rockets. They have not only shaped our understanding of physics but have also paved the way for future generations to continue pushing boundaries in space exploration.
