Alpha Centauri, nicknamed Rigil Kent, is an intriguing triple star system where its two brightest components create a visually stunning yellow-orange binary. Proxima Centauri, which forms the third component of this system, holds special significance as it happens to be Earth's closest neighboring star at a distance of 4.3 light years. On the other hand, Beta Centauri or Hadar presents itself as a binary star that lies much farther away from us at approximately 424 light years. The photograph was skillfully taken from Pauhatanui in New Zealand with North positioned at the top. The camera settings used for this shot were 50mm focal length lens with an aperture value of f/2 and an exposure time of 20 seconds. Fujichrome 1600 +2 film was employed to capture this ethereal image.
