NuSTAR space telescope construction C014 / 1738

NuSTAR space telescope construction. Engineers in the final stages of assembling NASAs Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR). NuSTAR is NASAs 11th small-explorer mission (SMEX-11) and is a space-based X-ray telescope that will use a Wolter telescope to focus high energy X-rays from astrophysical sources, especially for nuclear (gamma-ray) spectroscopy. It was built by Orbital Sciences Corporation and launched on 13th June 2012. Photographed at the Orbital Sciences Corporation, Dulles, Virginia, USA, on 18th January 2012
