Green turtle
Green turtle (Chelonia mydas) at a cleaning station being cleaned by surgeonfish (black). Surgeonfish, like cleaner wrasses, are found at cleaning stations where they remove parasites from the bodies of other marine creatures. The Green turtle is found in warm tropical waters. It is herbivorous and feeds on algae and sea grasses, although young turtles may eat small animals such as snails and jellyfish. The green sea turtle grows to around 1.5 metres in length and weighs up to 300 kilograms. The green sea turtle is an endangered species due to its many predators including sharks and humans. Photographed off Sipadan Island, in the Celebes Sea, Malaysia
