EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning print captures the majestic Great Belt Bridge in Denmark, specifically showcasing the East Bridge, which is part of the renowned Great Belt Fixed Link. Serving as a crucial transport link between Zealand and Funen islands, this suspension bridge stretches across the vast strait with its road decks supported by 12 concrete pillars spaced 193 meters apart. As the viewer gazes westward from Zealand towards Sprogo Island, they are greeted by a breathtaking sight: the radiant sun gracefully descending low in the sky behind the towering pylons of the East Bridge. The bridge's architectural marvel becomes even more apparent as one observes its impressive clearance below - an astounding 65 meters - while its pylons soar to a remarkable height of 254 meters above sea level. Constructed over seven years between 1991 and 1998, this technological feat stands as a testament to Danish engineering prowess. Its steel structure harmoniously blends with both land and water elements, creating an awe-inspiring seascape that showcases mankind's ability to conquer nature through innovative transportation solutions. Carlos Dominguez skillfully captured this moment in time during his visit in 2006. His lens immortalizes not only a magnificent piece of infrastructure but also highlights how human ingenuity can seamlessly integrate into our natural surroundings. This print serves as a reminder of Denmark's commitment to progress and connectivity while offering viewers an opportunity to appreciate both beauty and functionality within one frame.
