Cretaceous dinosaurs, artwork

Cretaceous dinosaurs. Computer artwork of a 10 ton, 30-foot-long (9 metres) juvenile Antarctosaurus (right) sauropod being hunted by a 2 ton, 25-foot-long Abelisaurus (left) therapod, during the Late Cretaceous period (around 100 to 66 million years ago) in what is now Argentina. Abelisaurus resembled the larger Tyrannosaurus Rex that was to roam North America 10 million years later. Antarctosaurus was a herbivorous titanosaur that may have grown to 60-feet-long and weighed up to 100 tons

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a thrilling encounter between two prehistoric giants in the Late Cretaceous period. In this stunning computer artwork, we are transported back in time to witness the intense hunt of a 10-ton juvenile Antarctosaurus by a 2-ton Abelisaurus. The scene unfolds in what is now Argentina, where these magnificent creatures once roamed. On the right side of the image stands the massive sauropod, Antarctosaurus, stretching an impressive 30 feet long. This herbivorous titanosaur was known for its colossal size and may have reached up to 60 feet long and weighed a staggering 100 tons. Its towering presence dominates the frame as it becomes prey to its formidable predator. To the left lurks Abelisaurus, a carnivorous theropod measuring approximately 25 feet long. Resembling its later North American counterpart Tyrannosaurus Rex, this fearsome hunter possessed sharp teeth and powerful jaws that made it an efficient predator. The lush forest background adds depth to this ancient ecosystem while highlighting both flora and fauna from that era. Towering trees provide shelter for smaller creatures seeking refuge from these titanic clashes. Through Walter Myers' masterful illustration skills, we gain insight into South America's rich paleontological history and marvel at these awe-inspiring reptilian beings that once ruled our planet millions of years ago.
