Sacco, whose real name was Giuseppe Moscati, was an Italian-American man who gained international fame for his extraordinary ability to fast for extended periods. He began his fasting career in 1870, when he went without food for 40 days and 40 nights, drawing large crowds and gaining the attention of the media. Over the next few decades, Sacco continued to break records, fasting for up to 41 days at a time.
