Rudston Roman Villa mosaics during excavation - Rudston, East Yorkshire - dated to the 4th century. The villa contained some of the best examples of Roman mosaics and painted wall plaster from the North of England. Here the site is shown shortly after excavation (by the Yorkshire Archaeological Trust between 1933 and 1935). The Aquatic Mosaic (pictured here) paved the apodytherium or changing room of the bath-house at the villa. Date: 1933
