EDITORS COMMENTS
Embarking on a Journey of Friendship and Cultural Exchange: Lifelong friends from Lerryn, Frances McDiarmid and Rebecca Pearce, eagerly set off for Bombay in October 1991. Aged 18 and 19 respectively, these spirited young women have dedicated their gap year to an extraordinary project - living with Indian families and teaching English to local children. This remarkable adventure comes after completing their A Levels but before venturing into university life. In this print captured by the talented Jonathan Barker, Frances and Rebecca proudly display their t-shirts adorned with heartfelt messages from friends and well-wishers back home in Cornwall. With enthusiasm radiating from their smiles, one can only imagine the excitement pulsing through their veins as they prepare to immerse themselves in a new culture brimming with vibrant traditions, flavorsome cuisine, and warm-hearted locals. Their passion for language learning shines through as they embrace the opportunity to share their knowledge with eager young minds.
