EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to the picturesque village of Rosehill, Lanivet in Cornwall, circa 1965. The view from Rosehill offers a glimpse into the past as we look west down the hill towards Lamorick nestled in the valley below. Standing proudly on the right side of the image is Tremorvah, a charming house that would later transform into a guest house. Intriguingly, this road was once known as the A30, serving as Cornwall's main thoroughfare at that time. Today it has been renumbered and is now recognized as the A389. As our eyes wander beyond Tremorvah and over the rolling hills in the background, we can trace an enchanting path known locally as The old Coach Road meandering its way through nature's beauty. The photographer behind this remarkable shot is Charles Woolf, who skillfully captures not only a moment frozen in time but also preserves a slice of Cornish history for generations to come. This print evokes nostalgia for simpler times when life moved at a slower pace and communities thrived amidst their natural surroundings. Displayed within Royal Cornwall Museum's collection, this image transports viewers back to an era where quaint villages like Rosehill were untouched by modern developments. It serves as a reminder of how landscapes change over time while preserving their timeless allure.
