The penny farthing trip was first staged in 1982 when it was started by St Ives solicitor Mike Clough and has become a biennial event. The cyclists stayed in Golant Youth Hostel the previous evening, having peddled from Truro. Their final destination was Brittany, where they raised money for a French cancer charity.
