The reverse bears a strutting eagle with wings furled, facing left, with King Ptolemaios written in Greek lettering. The Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt was founded in 305 BC by Ptolemy I Soter, one of Alexander the Greats former Generals. It covered a large geographic area, with Alexandria as its capital city.
