This evocative image captures the historic moment of first contact between Sir John Ross's Arctic expedition team and the native Eskimos of Felix Harbour, Boothia Peninsula, in 1829. The photograph, taken from the extensive collection at Mary Evans Picture Library, offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when the polar regions were still largely unexplored.
